Gloria Brown

Gloria M. Brown, 79, of 253 Lake Flower Avenue, Saranac Lake, died on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

She was born on January 22, 1934 in Malone, New York, the daughter of Walter Lewis and Patricia (Fletcher) Lavery.

Gloria was a graduate of Saranac Lake High School. She married Allen P. Brown on November 26, 1955. He predeceased her on April 28, 2004. She was a home day care provider for several years and worked at the National Army Store prior to her retirement.

She is survived by one son, Allen Brown and his wife Karen of Florida, three daughters; Debra Conway, Brenda Reeve and her husband Cristian of Vermontville, and Terry Buckley and her husband Robert of Saranac Lake, 11 grandchildren, one sister, Patricia “Katherine” Kubli of Plattsburgh, NY, one brother-in-law, Harold Engelhart of Glenfield, NY, several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Tippy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers Walter “Stan” Lewis, Frankie Lewis, and one sister Nancy Engelhart.

Gloria loved to take her chances on raffle drawings and play the lottery. She was very lucky and won several drawings.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, February 22, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Bill Muench officiating. Internment will take place in Brookside Cemetery in the spring.
