George A. Broeckx, age 64, of Jessica Truck, Albany, NY, died Friday, October 16, 2015.
Born in Lake Placid, New York on February 25, 1951, he was the son of George and Catherine (See) Broeckx.
George attended and graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1969. Following graduation he moved to Albany where he attended a culinary arts school. He devoted 20 years guiding young people through Project Strive, Division for Youth. He owned and operated his own landscaping/gardening business, Totally George for over 30 years. George was a member of and had served on the Board of Directors for the Honest Weight Food Co-op. He was an avid gardener and longtime member of the Normanskill Capital District Community Garden.
He is survived by one daughter Heather Broeckx of Albany, one granddaughter Summer Broeckx-Smith of Albany, three sisters Rose Broeckx of Wilmington, Marcelle Ingraham and her husband Peter of Vermontville, Kathleen Tompkins and her husband Rodger of Wilmington, nieces and nephews Giselle and Elias Ingraham, Rachel and Andre’ Tompkins, and all of his friends in Albany. He was predeceased by one brother Richard A. Broeckx who died on June 1, 2013.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Services will take place at the convenience of the family.
