Joseph M. Bova, Sr., age 77, of 89 Greenwood Ave., Lake Placid, who died on Thursday, May 29, 2014.
Born in Vermontville, New York on July 14, 1936, he was the son of Elmer and Clara May (Shene) Bova. Joseph married Dora Gates on December 24, 1954 in Church of the Nazarene in Vermontville, NY. Dora predeceased him on October 27, 2012 .
Mr. Bova had worked as a welder in Warren, Ohio before returning to the Saranac Lake area. He is a past member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club. Me. Bova loved going to yard sales and long rides in his car. He was an avid deer hunter and clock collector. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by four sons Bradley Bova of Orlando, FL, Timothy Bova and his wife Susan of Malone, Joseph Bova, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Saranac Lake, Wayne Bova of Malone, NY, one daughter Christine Swinyer and her husband Gerald of Vermontville, two sisters Viola Shumway and her husband Charles of Saranac Lake and Joyce Euber and her husband Christopher of Vermontville, NY, 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one daughter Carol and six brothers, Roy, Bernard, William John, Edward, Bernard, and James.
Calling hours are set to take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday June 4, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours at 3:00 P.M. at the Fortune - Keough Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
