Alice Bourquin

Alice M. Bourquin, 74, of 14 Kiwassa Road, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Adirondack Medical Center surrounded by family.

Born in Lake Placid on May 21, 1940, she was the daughter of Roland and Elizabeth (Cline) Douglas.

Alice was an avid train enthusiast and loved volunteering for the Adirondack Scenic Railroad for many years as a car host, conductor and brakeman. She also was a licensed ham radio operator under the call sign (N2YTS). Alice was a member of St. Bernard’s Church and had taught CCD there for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Dawn Flynn and her husband Andy of Saranac Lake, Laurie Muncil and her husband Ronald of Lake Clear, and Ramona Boylan of Piercefield; two sisters, Helen Macey of Bloomingdale and Mary Marconi Sanders of Georgia; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Boylan, Michael Boylan III and Raymond Muncil. She is also survived by her former husband, Red Bourquin, and two stepsons, Willis Bourquin and his wife Theo of Salina, Kansas, and Harold Bourquin of Salina, Kansas. She was predeceased by her father, mother, stepfather Joseph Marconi, sister Betty Coats and brothers Joseph Marconi Jr. and Louis Marconi.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, June 16, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. C.J. McAvoy officiating. Burial will take place in North Elba Cemetery at a later date.
