Andrew "Andy" J. Boula, age 63, of 33 Poplar Lane, Bloomingdale, NY died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at his home.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 06, 1948, he was the son of Oliver and Ruth (Foster) Boula. He married Dawn Aleta Strack on April 16, 1983 in Saranac Lake.
Andy is a life long resident of the Saranac Lake area and had been employed for various area businesses including, 25 years at the Trudeau Institute, North Star Industries, the New York Times and the Plattsburgh Press Republican until his retirement in April of 2011. He is a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Andy was a member of the American Legion Post 4457 in Saranac Lake. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling and joking around with family and friends doing his various impression of "Peggy". He is especially loved his three dogs Odie, Dixie and Skeeter.
He is survived by his wife Dawn Boula of Bloomingdale, NY. two sisters Susan Ward of Saranac Lake and Patricia Rudy and her husband John Mundie of Richmond, VA, one aunt Annabelle Paradis of Lake Clear, NY, and many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother Brian.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. A Veterans Memorial Association service will take place at 5:45 PM Sunday immediately followed by a memorial service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Reilly officiating.
