Phyllis Blendowski

Phyllis Jane (Hampton) Blendowski, age 95, of Loon Lake, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.

Born in Pickens, South Carolina on February 08, 1923, she was the daughter of Grimsfield Taylor and Ida (Jomes) Hampton. Phyllis married Harry Stanley Blendowski and he predeceased her.

Phyllis was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving during World War II. For many years, Phyllis was the Assistant to the Dean at SUNY Buffalo. She was involved with the Concept Theory Institute of San Antonio, TX where she was a teacher of concept theory. Phyllis also was an avid reader and for many years was a proof-reader for college students.

She is survived by her two sons: Michael (Lisa) Blendowski of Orchard Park, NY and Stephen Blendowski of Loon Lake, she is also survived by her sister Anne Peters of New Carlisle, OH. Phyllis was predeceased by her father and mother Grimsfield Taylor and Ida Hampton, three brothers: Conley, McLean and Grey Hampton, and a sister Jean Connell.

Services are private and will be at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home of Saranac Lake.
