John R. Blanchfield, Jr., age 82, of Saranac Lake, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at Adirondack Medical Center.
Born in Hollis, New York on May 26, 1930, he was the son of John and Florence (Loveday) Blanchfield, Sr. John, married Inger Marie Gregersen on May 26, 1984 in Tupper Lake, New York. She predeceased him on November 16, 2000.
John had been a long time resident of the North Country where he owned and operated the Saranac Lake Florist and Tupper Lake Farms and had been a master clock builder and specialized in clock repair. Prior to that he had been employed by the Federal Housing Authority at various offices throughout
the North Country including Malone, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake until his retirement in 1975. John attended and graduated Farmingdale College in Long Island.
He is survived by two sons John Blanchfield and his wife Melinda of Damascus, MD, and Carey Blanchfield and his wife Donna of Millington, MD, one sister Ellen Pinero of Johnstown, NY, four step children Charles Botto and his wife Valerie Cookson-Botto of Saunderstown, RI, Kimberly Botto of Albany, NY, Michele Studlack and her husband George Studlack, III of Malone, NY, 6 grand children Jordan Blanchfield, George Studlack, Greg Studlack, Ellen Studlack, Isabelle Botto, Nicholas Botto, four great grandchildren Kylie Torres, Karlie Torres, Cameron Torres, Brodie Blanchfield, . He was preceded in death by one son Jeffery Blanchard.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at12:00 PM on Monday May 20, 2013 at the AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel in Lake Placid, NY with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating. .
