Theodore Blace

TUPPER LAKE- Theodore N. Blace, 84, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. Born June 7, 1925 in Englewood, NJ, he was the son of Theodore and Muriel (Osborne) Blace. At the age of 17, Mr. Blace joined the U.S. Army. Serving during WWII, he participated in the liberation of Italy serving with the 34th division and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After returning from the war, he was employed at Somer's garage and Toneth Motors as Sales Manager. He later went on to become self employed as an electrical contractor in the mid seventies and was owner/operator of Ted's Electric and continued to operate the electrical supply side of the business until recent. In 1985 Ted converted to Catholicism and was a communicant of St. Alphonsus church. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Ted was a devoted father, grandfather and companion to Micheline Root for more than a decade. He is survived by three daughters; Barbara Blace, Colleen (Blace) Tessier,Kathleen (Blace) Forbes, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister Joan Bryce of Bluffton, SC, a brother Roy of Vancouver, Wa. He was pre-deceased by his wife Janet of 42 years of marriage, a sister Muriel Cerney and a brother Peter. Calling hrs were held on Sunday, June 28th from 3 to 6 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.
