Kendall Bickford

Kendall N. Bickford age 84 of Vermontville, NY died May 7, 2011 at the Meadow Brook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh, NY.

Born December 10, 1926 in Lake Placid NY, Kendall was the son of Earl and Pearl (Lyman) Bickford.

Kendall attended the Lake Placid High School before he was drafted into the United States Army in 1945, where he served overseas and completed his tour in 1947 with an honorable discharge. He then was employed by the Lake Placid Club until 1950. He then re-enlisted in the United States Marine Corps he was a non commissioned Marine officer ranking Sergeant in the 5th regiment 1st Marine division where he fought in the Korean war. He received 8 medals with 4 combat stars along with a Presidential Unit Citation from President Syngman Rhee of South Korea. His tour finished with an honorable discharge in 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Elliody M. Bickford, whom he married February 24, 1950. He is also survived by his five children, Warren N. Bickford of Vermontville, Tina L. LeClair of Saranac Lake, Dawn M. Rowell of Gainesville, FL, Wendall J. Bickford of Rainbow Lake and Vicky Powell of Freeman, VA. He is also survived by one brother, Charles Bickford of Lake Placid, 8 grand children and 11 great grand children.

A viewing and church service will be held at the Vermontville Church of the Nazarene on May 11, 2011 from 10-11:30 with a grave side service at 12:00 at Union Cemetery in Vermontville, NY.
