Gladys Benware

Gladys Dupuis Benware, age 95, of 109 Washington Street, Tupper Lake, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Tupper Lake, New York on January 27, 1915, she was the daughter of Theodore and Delina (LaGoy) Dupuis. She married Romeo Rene Benware on March 2, 1935 at Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake. He predeceased her on October 28, 1974.

Mrs. Benware was a lifelong resident of Tupper Lake and had been employed at Oval Wood Dish Company for several years. She was a volunteer Foster Grandparent at Sunmount for many years and was also a member of the St. Ann's Society in Tupper Lake. Gladys especially enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters Connie Amell of Saranac Lake, and Linda McGivney and her husband Daniel of Malone, three sons Phillip Benware and his wife Denise of Gloversville, NY, Bruce Benware and his wife Callie of Fulton, NY, and Charles Benware and his wife Debbie of Tupper Lake, NY, one daughter-in-law Margaret Benware of Tupper Lake, one sister Lillian LaFave of California and one brother Roy Dupuis of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by 35 Grandchildren, 70+ Great Grandchildren,several great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her loving companion her cat Mickey. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three daughters Shirley Facteau, Nancy Benware and Mary Benware, two sons Gordon Benware and Richard Benware and one son-in-law James Amell.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday April 17, 2010 at Holy Name Church, with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake.
