Christa Beline

September 8, 1927 — July 6, 2020

Christa M. (Anderes) Beline, 92, died Monday evening, July 6, 2020 after a short illness. For the last two years she lived at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, and her daughter was at her side holding her hand when she took her final breaths. She saw four of her six grandchildren and all six of her great grandchildren on July 4 at a lakeside barbecue hosted by her grandson.

Christa was born on Sept. 8, 1927 in Penzberg, Germany, to Maria Eichner Anderes and Jacob Anderes. Her family immigrated to the U.S. when the political climate in Germany began to sour in 1929, due to the rise of the Nazi Party. They moved to Dallas, Pennsylvania, where she grew up with a love of reading, swimming and biking. She was intelligent, feisty, opinionated, energetic, driven and an exceptionally hard worker. She put these attributes to use, and as a teenager provided critical monetary support to her family during hard times. She graduated from Nesbitt School of Nursing and later married Frank Beline, the love of her life, on Feb. 14, 1953.

Christa worked as a registered nurse and raised two daughters. She was a skilled seamstress and tailor. She hand-quilted more than 200 bed-sized pieces over the years, and donated most of them to good causes. Family meant everything to Christa; she always had their backs. Her generous spirit extended to her daughters’ families as well. She was the sole care provider, a true angel, for her parents during their final illnesses.

Christa and Frank traveled and camped extensively around the U.S. She once rode a mule into the Grand Canyon. For years, she and Frank wintered in Key Largo, Florida where she enjoyed swimming in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. They also spent many summers at Fish Creek Campground in the Adirondacks, and moved from Pennsylvania to Tupper Lake in 1992. She made many friends and could be found swimming with them several mornings each week at the Sunmount Developmental Center pool. Frank pre-deceased her in 2001. In 2016, she moved to Saranac Village at Will Rogers where she lived until June 2018.

Christa is survived by her two daughters: Carol (Beline) Keen and her husband R. Martin Keen of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Cynthia (Beline) Nashett and her husband Lawrence Nashett, of Upper Saranac Lake. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Joel Nashett and his wife Jen Ketchell of AuSable Forks; Rachel Nashett and her husband Shaun Panik of South Glastonbury, Connecticut; Jacob and his wife Tara (Wilkes) Nashett of Saranac Lake; Rebecca Nashett of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts; Kyle Keen and Adam Keen both of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and six great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Elsie (Anderes) Schichl of Rixeyville, Virginia, as well. At Christa’s request there will be a Mass of Christian burial and internment at the convenience of her family.
