Marvin Begor

Marvin C. Begor, age 71, of 353 Swinyer Road, Vermontville, NY, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 01, 1938, he was the son of Leander and Minnie (Patnode) Begor. He married Marsha N. Nobles August 8, 1971.

Marvin was a resident of the area for most of his life. He worked at Mershaw's Phonograph record packaging Co. in Albany, NY from 1958 - 1964. He worked at AMA from 1964 - 1969, North Country Community College from 1969 - 1979, the New York State National Guard Armory from 1979-1991 and for the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation from 1992 until his retirement on October 21, 1998. He retired from the guard in 1994. He was a member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years and had served there as a trustee. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting at the fire house and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Marsha of Vermontville; two sisters Doris Stickney of Franklin Falls, and Cynthia Oliver and her husband Don of Gabriels and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sons Timothy and Charles Begor, three brothers Raymond, Dennis and Paul Begor, and two sisters Mildred Brown and June Begor.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday, February 5, 2010 from 2PM -4PM and 7PM - 9PM. A fireman’s prayer service will take place at 8:00 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 6, 2010 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul's Cemetery in the spring.
