Donald Bedore

Donald E. Bedore, age 79, of 217 Kiwassa Road, Saranac Lake, died peacefully at home on Tuesday October 28, 2014 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Tupper Lake, New York on July 02, 1935, he was the son of Adolph "Duffy" and Emma (Beaujolie) Bedore. Donald married June E. Gladd in 1960.

Don graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957; working as a military policeman. After serving in the army Don returned to Tupper Lake where he worked as a police officer on the Tupper Lake Police Department from 1957 to 1960. He later worked for Gladd and Leaper in Saranac Lake from 1960 to 1977 and for Sunmount Developmental Center from 1977 until his retirement in 1997 as a Sergeant for their security division. He was a sergeant in the New York State Army National Guard and a member of the Tupper Lake Knights of Columbus. Don enjoyed fishing, watching football and was an animal lover, he especially loved the many pets on his Kiwassa Road and Lake Kiwassa neighborhood.

He is survived by his wife June Bedore of Saranac Lake, one son Jeffrey Bedore and his wife Tina of Clifton Park, one daughter Michele Korony and her husband Andrew of Forest Hills, four grandchildren Nicholas and Jacquelyn Bedore and Zachary and Joshua Quinn, three sisters Greta Rovito, Betty Bencze and Bernadette Dattalo all of Tupper Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother Henry Bedore and one sister Gloria Rieck.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A bible vigil service will take place Friday evening at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday November 1, 2014 at St. Bernard's Church, with Rev. Thomas Higman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
