Neal Allen Beaudette, 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 with his family by his side after a courageous battle of lung cancer.
Born March 4, 1952 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of the Muriel (Laramee) Beaudette and the late Leo Beaudette.
He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1971. He joined the Navy in February 1972 where he was a Radioman 3rd class, and was stationed in Navsubase, New London; Groton, CT. In November 1974 he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease and was honorably discharged in December 1974.
Neal worked at Sunmount for 28 years until he retired September 2011.
On June 29, 1985, he married Carol Gonyea Roberge at St Alphonsus Church. They made their home on Berkley Ave, in Tupper Lake. Although he had no children of his own he raised Carol’s four children as if they were his own.
He was past president and vice president of the Tupper Lake Snowmobile club. Neal enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid photographer, enjoyed telling stories, but what he loved the most was spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as his family and friends.
Neal is survived by his wife Carol of 26 years, four children, Phyllis Amell, Melissa Tietge, Bobbie Jo Drasye and her husband Eric, Jason Roberge and his fiancé Sarah Snyder; ten grandchildren, Jerry Amell and his fiancé Alyssa Hollenbeck, Celeste and Jordan Amell; Jessica Tietge, Kaylee Adams, Nathan and Austen Toohey, Devin Roberge, Eric Drasye, Jr and Taylor Roberge; four great-grandchildren, Aiden and Landon Amell, Neveah Toohey and Erin Collins. He is also survived by his mother Muriel, four sister, his twin sister Nancy and her husband Steve Conte of Austin, TX; Cynthia and her husband Donald Whitmore, of Cranberry Lake; Erin and her husband Chris Klossner of Tupper Lake; Joan and Charlie Beaudette of Tupper Lake; two brothers, Gary Beaudette of Tupper Lake, and Andrew Beaudette of San Diego, CA; and nine nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, James on September 14, 1984, his father, Leo on September 15, 1999.
Calling hours will be held at Stuart Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake on Thursday, April 12 from 7 pm - 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name Church on Friday at 12:00 pm. There will be a celebration of Neal’s life immediately following at the VFW at 1 pm on Friday.
