Eunice “Bunny” Beardsley, age 100, of 19 Winona Ave, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 2010.
Born in Enfield, Massachusetts on February 14, 1915, she was the daughter of Henry and Carrie (Edson) Webster. Bunny’s first 3 year marriage to H. Jackson Poole ended in 1945. In 1946 she met and married
John Beardsley who predeceased her on July 4, 1979
Bunny had been a resident of the area for over 70 years and had owned and managed Lakeside Apartments. She was trained and employed by Tony Anthony, the Taylor and later made alterations for the local men’s clothing stores- T.F. Finnegan’s, Wilsons, Stevens, and Everetts as well as many area residents. Bunny was a member of the Church of St. Luke the Beloved Physician where she taught Sunday school for 17 years and was a long-time member of the Altar and Ladies Guilds. She also volunteered as Cub Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout leader for several years.
A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by one daughter Catherine Beardsley of Saranac Lake and one son Douglas Poole of Liverpool, one grandson Michael Poole and wife Lori of Las Vegas, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Steven Poole and three sisters Lucille Thresher, Carolyn Webster and Gladys Hanks.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday February 3, 2016 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel in Lake Placid, with Rev. Frederick Dennis officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.
