Betty J. Beaney, age 77, of 30 Margaret Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY.

Born in McColumbs, NY on February 21, 1934, she was the daughter of Myron and Ida (Martin) Crate. She married Clinton J. Beaney September 30, 1955 in Niagara Falls, NY. He predeceased her January 24, 2000.

Mrs. Beaney had been a life long resident of the Saranac Lake area and had been employed at the Hotel Saranac in the main kitchen for 11 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and baking. She especially loved to rehabilitate old dolls and stuffed teddy bears collected at the Thrift Shop in Saranac Lake to be given out to needy families at Christmas time.

She is survived by two sons Philmore Beaney and his wife Susan of Mooers, NY and Albert Beaney of Saranac Lake, NY, one daughter Deborah Collard of Gloversville, NY, one brother Milton Crate of Niagara Falls, NY, three sisters Louise Clark of Saranac Lake, NY, Bertha Crate of Rochester, NY, and Joyce Perrino of California, two grandchildren Lynn and Christopher and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother Charles Crate.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Mrs. Beaney's family will receive friends at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 1:00PM – 2:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Joanne White officiating.
