Lynne Baryk

May 19, 1956 — January 25, 2021

Lynne Marie Baryk, resident of Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid, died on January 25, 2021 from complications related to congestive heart failure. She was 64. She was born on May 19, 1956 in Queens Village, NY, daughter of Michael and Anna Baryk and sister to Michael, Karen and Steven.

After graduating from high school Lynne worked in Manhattan as a secretary at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Lynne was employed by several companies during a working career that was shortened considerably by health issues. She last worked for a title insurance company on Long Island.

At a very young age Lynne was aptly pronounced Miss Sunshine by her grandfather. Throughout her life she exuded happiness with her positive attitude and optimism. Lynne always made the best of every situation, no matter how dire, which lit up the world around her.

Lynne loved her family, her cat Peanut, dancing to rock’n’roll music, reading romance and detective novels, and playing 500 rummy, solitaire and jigsaw puzzles with her mom. She will be missed by all who knew her, and even by those on the receiving end of her many acts of random kindness. She will be especially missed by her sister, Karen, with whom she shared a lifetime of experiences, including summer days on her grandparents’ farm in Middleburg, end-of-life care of their mother, active promotion of humane treatment of all animals, cat ownership, and long conversations over coffee.

Lynne was predeceased by her parents and one brother. She is survived by one brother, Michael Baryk and one sister, Karen Baryk, both of Saranac Lake, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and one uncle.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service is being planned by the family for a later date. Family and friends can share their condolences at fortunekeoughfuneralhome.com.
