TUPPER LAKE- Paul J. Arey, 76, of Tupper Lake passed away after a brave fight of thyroid cancer with his family by his side on Friday, July 27, 2012. Born on August 23, 1935 in Wyalusing, PA, he was the son of Fred and Rachel (Manahan) Arey. Mr. Arey graduated from Wyalusing High. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving from 1953-1957. After service he became a Trooper with the New York State police retiring in 1980 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Veteran of Foreign Wars, past officer of the Loyal Order of the Moose and past president of the Hay Meadow Pond Club. He is survived by his wife Dorcas (Pepper) of Tupper Lake, sons, Dennis and P.J. of Tupper Lake, daughters, Trudy and her husband Eric Quinlan of Marcellus, NY and a daughter Tera Arey of Jamesville, NY. Grandsons, Chad and Corey Arey and Gavin Arey of Tupper Lake and Ryan and Kyle Quinlan of Marcellus. A great-granddaughter Madison Arey. Also surviving are sisters, K. Louise Ross of Meshoppen, PA, Ann and her husband Paul Meas of New Albany, PA, one brother James and his wife Mimi of Camptown, PA and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sisters, Alice Armitage and Evelyn Matlack, brothers Edward and Kenneth. Calling hours and funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, August 2nd from 4 to 6 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to the Adirondack Leathernecks, Marine Corps League, VFW Post 3120 or High Peaks Hospice.
