Jean M. Amell, age 80, of 698 County Route 55, Bloomingdale, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at her home.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on August 08, 1932, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Jeanne (Lamere) Saumier. Jean married Raymond Amell on July 28, 1951. He predeceased her on December 4, 1998.
Jean had been employed at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for over 30 years as a Unit Secretary until her retirement. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America both in Bloomingdale and Saranac Lake for many years. She was also a member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and very active in charity work especially the religious education program, food pantry and the foster grandparent program.
She is survived by four sons Donald Amell and his wife Cindy of Bloomingdale, NY, Paul Amell of Saranac Lake, Larry Amell and his wife Kim of Galway, Stephen Amell of Galway, three daughters Sandra Amell of Los Vegas, NV, Deborah Amell of Clifton Park, and Brenda Darrah and her husband Wayne of Bloomingdale, 10 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one sister Joyce Hillhouse.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday April 28, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A Catholic Daughters service will take place Sunday at 3:45PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at11:00 AM on Monday, at St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
