Valeita Allen, age 64, of Lake Clear, died unexpectedly Monday, November 29, 2010 at her home.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Mom, but are truly grateful for having such a devoted, encouraging, and loving mother in our lives that always put her family ahead of herself. She was taken away from us to soon but will forever remain in our hearts. We love and miss you, Mom.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on May 25, 1946, she was the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Sawatis) Ohmann. She married Clifford B. Allen, Jr. September 5, 1970 in Saranac Lake. He predeceased her on May 13, 2008.

Mrs. Allen was a life long resident of Saranac Lake and was currently employed as a Secretary for the Tupper Lake Central School District Special Education Department. Before working for TLCSD she had been employed by BOCES as a Secretary for several years and also for the American Management Association in Saranac Lake for 32 years.

She is survived by two sons Clifford Allen, III of Saranac Lake, NY and Kelly Allen and his wife Teddi of Bloomingdale, NY, two daughters Heather Desmonie and Rebecca Allen both of Nassau, NY, 6 Grandchildren Keaton Allen, Dominic Desmonie, Alexander Desmonie, Camille Allen, Rivers Allen and Bowen Allen, one sister Eileen Sullivan of Saranac Lake, NY, two brothers Robert Ohmann of Saranac Lake, NY and Richard Ohmann of New Mexico, one sister-in-law Elizabeth Wells, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A prayer service will take place Friday evening at 6:45PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 4, 2010 at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake with Rev. Patrick O’Reilly officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard's Cemetery at a later date.
