Alison Charles

Word has been received of the death of Alison E. (Day) Charles, age 96, of Saranac Village at Will Rogers in Saranac Lake, NY at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid on Sunday February 26, 2023.

Alison was born on December 22, 1926, the daughter of Fredrick James and Lilian Catherine (Kricheldorff) Day in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada.

Alison married the love of her life, Richard Charles in 1994 in Schenectady, NY. He predeceased her in October 2008.

Alison was an environmental chemist by trade and was also a professor of chemistry in her earlier years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Her first love was her family, and she very much enjoyed gardening and tending to her many plants and vegetables she grew.

Alison is survived by her daughter Anne Carter and her son-in-law Tony Siminiak of Florida, her step-son Jon of Massachusetts and her younger sister Brenda (Day) Wachman.

Alison was predeceased by her mother and father and an older sister Barbara Day.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Alison's request there will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
