Doris Kilroy

March 9, 1944 — January 9, 2022

Doris Elaine Kilroy, age 77, of Saranac Lake, died Sunday, January 9, 2022 at her home.

Born in Watertown, N.Y. on March 9, 1944. Doris was the daughter of Thurston and Lucille (Wiley) Gosier of Chaumont, N.Y. Doris married the love of her life Timothy Carlton Kilroy on May 27, 1967 at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake.

Doris graduated from Lyme High School in 1962. Following graduation she moved to Saranac Lake and studied radiology from 1964 to 1965 under Dr.Rosenstein. Doris loved spending time at the family farm with Tim and her grandchildren. Doris would often be found exploring the shoreline. In 2000, Doris and Tim started building their cottage on Pillar Point in Dexter where they would spend their summers. During the building process, Doris would be known as “The Boss” pulling out her book on correct building every step of the way. She enjoyed gardening and creating beautiful flower beds, painting, knitting, crocheting, and reading.

Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends most especially over the holidays. We will all miss her witty sense of humor and mostly her advice and guidance.

She is survived by her husband Timothy Kilroy of Saranac Lake, three sons Shane (Erin) Kilroy of Dexter, Brett Kilroy of Saranac Lake, and Tim (Ashley) Kilroy of Champlain, three grandchildren Morgan (Savannah Simmons) Kilroy, Megan (Dalton) DeMarco and Ashton Kilroy, two step grandchildren Peyton Thomas and Alyssa Wales, one great granddaughter Harper DeMarco, one sister Jane (Michael) White of Adams, a brother Richard Gosier of Watertown and dear friends Dennis and Sue Dwyer along with Joe DeNicola Jr. She is also survived by her brother-in-laws Michael Kilroy and Thomas (Laura Rice) Kilroy both of Saranac Lake and sister-in-law’s Maureen (Al) McKeough of Barefoot Bay, FL and Mary Gosier of Watertown. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers Donald and Joseph Gosier and one sister Ann Gosier Grimsley.
