Richard Harvey

Richard H. Harvey, age 90, Saranac Lake, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Mercy Health Care in Tupper Lake, NY.

Richard was born in Syracuse, NY on March 19, 1931, the son of William G, and Irma (Hildreth) Harvey. He married the love of his life Joy Gurney on June 15, 1957 in Springfield, VT.

Richard was a Mechanical Engineer graduating from Syracuse University and working as an engineer for much of his life, most recently with Curtis Burns, Inc, in Rochester, NY. Richard served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Richard and Joy retired to Saranac Lake in 1994, where Richard became a 46'er, president of the North Woods chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club, and a long-time volunteer in numerous community activities.

Richard is survived by his wife Joy, his three sons: Eric of Pine Plains, NY, David (Susan) of Slidell, LA and Bruce (Elaine Montambeau) Harvey of Syracuse, NY and three grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brother William, two sisters: June Duperly and Marjorie Schneider.

Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At Richard’s request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at a later date at the convenience of the family.
