Emma Berghorn

Emma L. Berghorn, age 89, of Saranac Lake, NY died Tuesday July 21, 2020 at Mercy Health Care in Tupper Lake, NY.

She was born on September 26, 1930 in Alderbrook, NY, the daughter of the late James and Mary (McCaffrey) Law. Emma married Alex Helak in 1966 in Saranac Lake, NY and he unfortunately passed shortly after in 1967. She Married Delmar Berghorn on October 9, 1980. He predeceased her on October 20, 2008.

Emma was a proud lifelong resident of Saranac Lake. She worked as an aide at Ray Brook Sanitorium, Sunmount and various group homes throughout the Tri-Lakes area. She took pride in her work and cared for people throughout her life.

Emma is survived by too many nieces and nephews to name.

Emma was preceded in death by her brothers: James John, Francis, Raymond, Charles and Steven Law and her sisters: Marie Wood and Margaret Kenny.

The family would like to especially thank Joey Kelly whom managed her nursing staff, Mary Kay, Sally, Shannon, Carrol, Amanda, Morgan, Amber and “Little” Emma for enabling Emma to keep her independence for as long as she did.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Calling hours will be held at St. Bernard’s Church on Monday July 27, 2020 at 10:00am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard’s Church at 11:00am with burial immediately following in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. The Reverend Patrick Ratigan will be officiating. Family and friends wishing to remember Emma L.
