Barbara McAfee, age 75, of Onchiota, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at The Alice Center, Malone, NY
Born in Scotia, New York on April 9, 1945, she was the daughter of Ralph and Anna Alice (Corl) Bailey. Barb married Tod McAfee on Friday, April 6, 1984 in East Church, Springfield, MA. Tod predeceased her on July 17, 2018.
Barb and Tod moved to Onchiota in 1992 coming from Springfield, MA. Barb had been employed as a Registered Nurse at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA and Planned Parenthood in Springfield, MA and Malone, NY. She was a successful nurse and an advocate for women’s reproductive rights. She loved to fish and be out in the boat with her late husband Tod. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed singing in the choir and when she did the housework. She loved her dogs, especially her dachshunds.
She is survived by one son David Green of Shutesbury, MA and one daughter Karen (Mark) Robitaille of East Longmeadow, four grandchildren Jake, Sara, Kevin and Lexi, her dogs Gretel and Moose and her cat Felix.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Private services will take place at the convenience of the family.
