Charles G. Halsted Jr., resident of Waynesboro, PA, died at his summer home on Upper Saranac Lake, NY on June 29, 2020.
Charles was born in Ossining, NY on May 23, 1941 and was the son of Charles G. Halsted Sr. and Berenice Halsted. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.
Charlie was predeceased by his father Charles G. Halsted Sr, his mother Berenice (Maneke) Halsted, and his sister Barbara Lynn Delorier. He was survived by his nieces and nephew Janice and son Dylan, Christine, and Daniel with wife Mary and children Brooke and Daniel Delorier. He was also survived by his close cousins Gregory Tuttle and Gail (Halsted)Howe and his brother in law David Delorier.
Charlie graduated Ossining High School in 1959. After High School, he attended the Maritime College at Fort Schuyler and graduated with a degree in Nuclear Science in 1963.
His career started with the Atomic Energy Commission, upon being hired he continued his education at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge Tennessee. From there he went to work at the AEC Field Office in New York City in 1963. In 1971, he transferred to Savannah River Plant in Aiken South Carolina and completed his career at the DOE Headquarters in Germantown, MD in 1994 as director of Facilities for Defense Material Productions.
Since retirement, Charlie spent his summers at upper Saranac Lake, a place where he and his family vacationed since the early 1950’s.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
