With heavy hearts we are announcing that Ann Marie Hewitt, 61, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in the early morning hours of January 1st, 2020.

Ann was born March 8th, 1958 in Saranac Lake NY. She was the daughter of John W. Hewitt and Mary J. Stickney. She married Stanley J. Manell on July 7th 2005 after being together for 23 years.

She was a dedicated CNA at Uhlein/Elderwood for over 30 years, leaving her with many loving residents, co-workers and friends. She was a highly avid reader and enjoyed traveling. Family meant everything to her.

She is survived by her beloved husband Stan of Bloomingdale NY, daughter Jacy (Andrew) Wilson of Dayton OH, son RJ Callaghan of Franklin Falls NY, son Jason Callaghan of Hendersonville NC, and daughter Jesse Hewitt of Tupper Lake NY, as well as her brother Richard (Brenda) Hewitt of Saranac Lake NY, brother William Hewitt of Vermontville NY, and sister Jody (Kevin) Sewell of Kane, PA. She also had 4 step-children Michele, Christopher, Emma and Stella, as well as 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both of her parents, a brother John Hewitt and sister Patti Goldfarb.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Per Ann’s request there will be no calling hours. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Ann’s memory can be made to Tri-Lakes Humane Society in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
