Eugene George Myer - Lake Placid

Gene went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 6th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at home.

Gene was born on July 5, 1941 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of George Washington Myer and Carol Veronica Callahan.

In his early years, Gene attended Catholic grade school and served as an altar boy. The Myer Family moved to Lyndhurst, New Jersey when Gene was fifteen where he finished high school. Following high school, he attended Farleigh Dickinson College and started working in a bank as a teller and eventually became vice president of the Security National Bank.

Gene married Marilyn Schwerdtgeger on June 1, 1963.

After many years of banking, Gene started his own landscaping business, which he successfully ran for 30 years. Gene and Marilyn’s dream came true when they moved into a log cabin tucked in the Adirondack hills of Lake Placid, New York. Gene longed for the change of seasons, and could not wait for the arrival of snow and requisite cross country skiing at the John Brown Farm. Spring would greet him with his favorite pastime of fishing in the Au Sable River. Summer found Gene tending to his large garden where he would grow vegetables for friends and neighbors. Gene and Marilyn wintered in Ft Lauderdale, FL for the past 20 years, filling their lives with great joy singing at the Christian Life Center choir every Sunday. Gene loved serving with the drive through prayer team where he saw many people coming to know the Lord as their Savior. Gene was an avid student of the bible, and taught Sunday school for many years. Gene was also a member of the Jay Cee’s
