Obituary for Dennis A. Mullen

Dennis A Mullen, age 71, of Lake Clear, died Tuesday, December 05, 2017 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Wallkill, New York on December 11, 1945, he was the son of Charles and Louise (Kramer) Mullen.

Dennis attended and graduated from Wallkill Central High School in 1964. He later attended and graduated from Central Connecticut State College in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education. Dennis played semi-pro football for the Buffalo Bills farm team of the Hartford Knights. He moved to Saranac Lake in 1982 and had been employed as the Regional Coordinator of Food Service for the New York State Department of Corrections based out of Camp Gabriels. He played in the men’s softball league, was a lifetime member of the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club and the National Rifle Association. Dennis loved hunting, fishing, trapping, archery, pistol shooting and camping. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his lifetime partner Donna Magee of Lake Clear, four children Todd Hoyt of Casa Grande, AZ, Jodie Mott of Lake Clear, Michael Magee of Saranac Lake and Bryan Magee of Bloomingdale, two brothers Ronald (Jeanne) Mullen of Freehold, NY and Mark (Kathleen) Mullen of Orchard Park, NY, one sister Charlou Mullen of Fishkill, NY, one niece Sarah (Michael) McCarron and one great nephew Donavan McCarron, one uncle Harold Auchmoody, eight grandchildren Brian Riley, Brittaney Riley, Brianne Mott, Jenny Mott, Hunter Magee, Kaitlyn Magee Sean Rosia, Dylan Pedro and Damian Cox, three great grandchildren Mason Quinn, Cali Quinn and Natalie Rosia.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. A reception will follow at the Saranac Lake Fish and Game Club.
