Obituary for Roger G. Oliver

Roger G. Oliver, age 58, of Bloomingdale, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 at University of Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on January 23, 1959, he was the son of Donald and Cynthia (Begor) Oliver. Roger, married Valerie Columbe on November 15, 1980 at St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale.

Roger had been employed by the Town of St. Armand Highway Department for the past 29 years and was currently serving as the Town of St. Armand Highway Superintendent. He is also a past Chief and member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department, Saranac Lake Moose Club and Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer, hunter and enjoyed rides on his Harley. He will be especially be remembered by family and friends for his love of barbequing and his "Roger's Burgers".

He is survived by his wife Valerie Oliver of Bloomingdale, two sons Chad and Ryan Oliver of Bloomingdale, his father and mother Donald and Cynthia Oliver of Franklin Falls, seven sisters Alonna Willette of Bloomingdale, Nancy (Sheridan) Swinyer of Bloomingdale, Cindy (Donny) Amell of Bloomingdale, Sharalon (Bob) Snickles of Bloomingdale, Judy (Tim) Heath of Saranac Lake, Robin Shanty of Gabriels and Kimberly (Kevin) Woodruff of Vermontville and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A fireman’s prayer service will take place at 6:45 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday September 28, 2017 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
