Mary A. Gach, 56, a local businesswoman and mother of three, passed away in Saranac Lake on Feb. 13, 2017,
Born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 13, 1960, she was the daughter of Robert and Joanne (Mueller) Herber.
She married Taras “Terry” Gach on Aug. 13, 1988 in La Jolla, California.
A graduate of St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, Mary spent 18 years in Encinitas, California, where she volunteered as the president of the local youth basketball league and as a member of the elementary school site council. Though she was an active member of the community, Mary’s true passion was raising her three children: Taras, Connor and Chandler.
Mary moved to Saranac Lake with her family in 2006 and has spent the past five years as the general manager of the Ampersand Bay Resort and Boat Club.
She is survived by her husband, Taras T., of Saranac Lake; three sons, Taras R. of Washington, D.C., Connor of Manhattan, New York, and Chandler at the United States Military Academy at West Point; her mother, Joanne Herber of Temecula, California; five brothers, David, Steve, Peter, Paul and Mike Herber; and one sister Julie Swanson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Herber.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will take place at a later date to be announced.
Friends wishing to remember Mary may make memorial contributions to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society and the Adirondack Carousel in the care of the funeral home.
