Betty Amell

Mrs. Betty M Amell, 84, of Maryland Road, Plattsburgh, N.Y., and formerly of Saranac Lake, passed away Saturday July 23, 2011 at the CVPH Medical Center. Betty was born in Saranac Lake on January 8, 1927. She was the daughter of Oliver and Anna (Strong) Boula.

She graduated from Saranac Lake High School,the class of 1944. She was a dedicated employee and officer of the Marine Midland Bank for 38 1/2 years.

She married Armand P. Amell on June 12, 1948 at St. Bernards Catholic Church. They were married for 59 years.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband Armand P. Amell, her siblings Oliver Boula, Joe Boula and Rita Desourdy. She was also predeceased by brother in laws Maynard Amell, Arnold Amell, Don Desourdy, Stan Petrashune, and Dan Paradise. Her sister in laws Winnie Petrashune, Anna Mae Amell, Ruth Boula, Connie Boula, and nephews Michael Petrashune, Brian Boula, Joe Boula.

She is survived by her sister Belle Paradis, her lifelong Best Friend and sister in law Betty Amell, a brother and sister in law Bernard and Shirley Amell and sister in law Joan Amell.

Although "Auntie" as she was fondly known didn't have any children she will be so sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Steve Petrashune, Cathy Sheehan, Gary, Tom, John, David, Jim, and Jeff Amell. Bev DuBray, Sue Myers, Jill Lagree, Mary Jo Spath, Betty Baker, Nancy Barcomb Connie Barcomb, Joan Duchin, Rick Bushey Jackie Bellew, Andy Boula, Sue Ward, Patty Rudy, Sandy Brown, James Brown, Gail Corbin, Joanne MacDowell and Debra Greene along with their spouses and children.

Betty will also be missed by her special friends, Billy and Bonnie St. Dennis, Louise LaFountain and Alice Thompson.

A memorial service will be held at St Johns Church in Lake Clear at 1:00 PM on Saturday July 30thwhere she was a communicant for many years. Burial will follow in St. Johns cemetery in Lake Clear beside her husband Armand. Donations can be made to High Peaks Hospice or St. Johns Church in Lake Clear in care of the funeral home.
