Shirley Oehler

Shirley Claremont Oehler died, age 77 of 189 Hobart Road, Gabriels, NY died Thursday November 11, 2010 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

She was born in Paul Smiths, NY, on February 1, 1933, the daughter of Albert and Mary Titus Claremont.

She has lived in this area all of her life. She married Allen Oehler on May 23, 1953. He predeceased her in 1993. Shirley retired in 1990, after working as a secretary in several State agencies. In her retirement, she enjoyed doing volunteer work, bowling, and spending time with her granddaughter.

She is survived by her son George of Gabriels; granddaughter Allie Oehler of Gabriels; grandson Jamey Sharlow of Shortsville; one sister Carolyn Mathews of Plattsburgh; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Jeanne Billy and her brother Albert "Bud" Claremont.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Monday November 15, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A bible vigil service will take place at the funeral home on Monday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Church of the Assumption in Gabriels. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Gabriels.
