Sydney E. Smith, 92, died on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Adirondack Medical Center.
He was the son of Earl J. Smith, co-founder of WNBZ and Bertha Utting Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Merle R., daughter of Barbara J. (John) Gray of Sterling; son Robert E. Smith of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; granddaughter Laurel A. Gray of Sydney, Australia; brother Don of Saranac Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements in care of Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours or services. If you want to make a donation in his memory please consider the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, as he was a member for several years, or to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad as they have been a great help to the family for the last year.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends who have offered or given us help this year.
