Richard Martin

Richard B. “Lefty” Martin, age 67, of 236 McComb Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 18, 1950, he was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Block) Martin.

Lefty was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake where he owned and operated Martin’s Excavation until he had to retire due to illness. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, member of Township 19 Hunting Club and past member of the Saranac Lake Moose Club. Lefty was also an avid baseball and softball player.

He is survived by his one son Stephen of Saranac Lake, two brothers Charles Martin of Saranac Lake and Joe Martin of Plattsburgh, and one grandson Johnathan Jacobs of Saranac Lake.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Services and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at St. John’s Cemetery in Paul Smiths.
