Jeanine Sporck

May 14, 1929 — March 20, 2017

Jeanine Florence Sporck, (Jeanine Wamsganz, May 14th, 1929), beloved wife to Charles E. Sporck passed away on March 20th, 2017, at Castle Hospital in Kailua, Hawaii. Jeanine is predeceased by her two loving sons Charles and Jonathan Sporck and is survived by her devoted and youngest son Christian and by her beloved daughter Martha Jane and daughter-in-law Mary. She leaves behind seven grandchildren - Charles, Christian, Emily, Lauren, Claire, Joseph, and Suzie, who will all miss her loving support, killer cookies, and contagious laugh.

Jeanine married her high school sweetheart, Charlie, where they met while attending Saranac Lake High School. Jeanine graduated in June of 1946, going on to attend New York State College for Teachers in Albany, NY, where she studied to become a math teacher. She left college to marry Charlie on September 18th, 1949. She worked at Montgomery Wards as an accountant and then as a librarian at Cornell University’s School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to help with Charlie’s tuition costs while he attended school there. With her loving support and dedication to the family, Charlie later became an engineer and widely successful businessman.

Jeanine had a deep love of music, was a phenomenal pianist, and carried perfect pitch when singing or reading music for others. Her musical talents were even enjoyed by the family bird, which sung next to her while she played. She loved animals and had many pets including several loyal Rottweilers, a parakeet who traveled around on her shoulder, and two friendly dogs named Juneau.

She mastered calligraphy, accounting, knitting, needlepoint, crochet, and gourmet cooking. She also had a love of carpentry, building much of the Adirondack Motel that is still hosting guests in Saranac Lake, in addition to her and Charlie’s first house in Glens Falls, NY.

She had a deep love of family, always encouraging and assisting them to accomplish more and participating in honing their skills and talents. She was a big proponent of family gatherings and enjoyed bringing everyone together to celebrate happy moments at Christmas and Thanksgiving. She will always be missed for her strength, sound advice, sense of humor, and loving concern for family.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday July 19, 2017 with the Rev. Frederick Dennis Officiating in North Elba Cemetery.
