Virginia Queior

Virginia Mary Queior, 88, passed away peacefully at her Ray Brook home on April 8, 2017. Virginia was born on August 13, 1928 in Saranac Lake, NY to George and Stella Riebel. Virginia graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1946.

She married Oliver Joseph Queior, Jr. on August 31, 1949 in Saranac Lake, NY by Judge Andrew Weller. Virginia attended and graduated with honors from North Country Community College in 1987. She is a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and was employed as an operator for 23 years for the New York Telephone Company until her retirement in 1983. She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Matron in 1963; Telephone Pioneers of America; taught Sunday School at the First United Methodist Church for several years, Order of the Amaranth; many quilting clubs; Paint and Palette Art Association; M.I. Hummel Club; Cedarlands Club; NCCC Alumni Association; and the Adirondack Genealogical Historical Society in Saranac Lake. She enjoys needle craft projects, chair caning, sewing, knitting, crochet, and quilting. She is an animal, bird, gardening and outdoor lover and is a charter founding member of the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. In her youth, she was also a figure skater and appeared in the Olympic Arena of the Extravaganzas. Her calm and balanced personality made everyone around her feel at ease and her loyalty made her “the favorite” person to talk to among family and friends.

Virginia is survived by a daughter, Gini Lee Queior, a sister Roslind Deitz, brother George Riebel, brother Gary Riebel, many nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law Joan Brady-Queior and longtime companion Ray Lubianetsky.

She was predeceased by son, Timothy, husband Oliver, and her brother David Riebel.

Arrangements are with Fortune-Keough Funeral Home of Saranac Lake and private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
