Brad Macdowell

June 8, 1948 — March 20, 2017

Brad “Eggplant” MacDowell, age 68, of Saranac Lake, died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Birch Point.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on July 09, 1948, he was the son of Winchester and Charmion (Maloney) MacDowell.

Brad had been employed as a bartender for many years for various area businesses. He also had worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union. Brad is a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 101st Calvary during the Vietnam War.

Brad was one of a kind. He was the life of the party anywhere he went, entertaining his audiences with his stories and antics. Brad loved being at his home on MacDowell Bay, surrounded by his family and friends. Listen for the hoot when you pass by Birch Point.

He is survived by his two sisters Marsha Morgan and her husband Steve of Saranac Lake, Debra MacDowell and her husband Jim Titus of Rhode Island, one brother Terry MacDowell and his wife Theresa of Saranac Lake, five nieces and nephews, Erin Kilroy, Ryan Morgan, Whitney Morgan, Zachary MacDowell and Phoebe McCaffery, five great nieces and nephews; Morgan and Megan Kilroy, Ryley and Jenna Morgan, and Lydia MacDowell. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother.

Calling hours will take place 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday March 24, 2017. Internment services will take place at the convenience of the family.
