Philip Sullivan

Philip “Hoot” Francis Sullivan, age 90, of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid where he had been a resident since 2010.

Born in Bloomingdale, New York on April 06, 1926, he was the son of William Philip and Winifred H. (Howard) Sullivan.

Hoot had attended local schools and served in the United States Army in Europe, Africa and Japan during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He had been employed as a plumber for the Local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #781 and worked locally for many years in the family plumbing and heating business, Sullivan & Campion Plumbing,

Hoot was a member of the American Legion Post 447, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Albert Gonyea Post and the Knights of Columbus Council Post 599.

He was a lifelong member of the East Branch Hunting Club and a Communicant of St. Bernard's Church. Hoots favorite past times were hunting, fishing and camping on the Lakes and at East Branch of the St. Regis River, as well as maple sugaring in the springtime on his wood lot, snowmobiling and bowling.

He is survived by one brother Peter Sullivan of Saranac Lake, two sisters Elizabeth Pelletieri of Saranac Lake and Ann Loftis of Branford, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother two sisters Winifred Yorkey and Margaret Campion, and two brothers Robert and John Sullivan

Funeral Arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 29, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Church, with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
