Donna J. Law, age 73, of 16 Vancour Ave., Saranac Lake, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 16, 1942, she was the daughter of John and Bernadette (Brickey) McGill. Donna married James “Jay” Law on June 15, 1963 in St. Bernard's Church.
Donna was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had been employed by the Saranac Lake Central School District for over 32 years where she worked in the cafeteria until her retirement. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Bernard and the St. Bernard’s Alter and Rosary Society. She had also volunteered for the Saranac Lake Pee Wee Hockey Association for several years and was an avid long time bowler. In recent years she loved camping with her family and spending time with her Coffee group at McDonalds.
She is survived by her husband Jay of Saranac Lake, three daughters Jo-Ann Gardner and her husband Ronald of Vermontville, Jo-Ellen Gardephe and her husband Michael of Vermontville, and Jayne Walker and her husband Greg of Bloomingdale, two sons James Law and his wife Robin of Rainbow Lake and Jon Law and his wife Joan of Lake Clear, one brother Howard McGill and his wife Shirley of Lake Clear, two sisters Carol Williams and her husband Ken of Lake Clear and Jackie VanCour of Titusville, FL, 10 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law’s John and Patricia Law of Saranac Lake, Rod and Marcie Law of Mexico, NY, Rebecca Leahy of Saranac Lake, Virginia Shelhamer of Saranac Lake, and Patricia and Geoff Harrington of Saranac Lake, NY. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, two brothers John “Jug” McGill and Gerald “Pete” McGill and one sister Colleen Finnegan.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A catholic daughters service will take place at 6:50 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place December 16, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
