Eleanor R. Leavitt, age 94, of Gabriels died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since October of 2014.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on August 06, 1921, she was the daughter of Arthur and Eleanor (MacMaster) Leavitt.

Eleanor was a lifelong resident and had been employed as a Librarian at Paul Smiths College for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake. Eleanor was a resident of Saranac Village at Will Rogers for several years prior to going to Uihlein Living Center. Eleanor’s family wishes to acknowledge the love, care, compassion and wonderful life the staff at Will Rogers and Uihlein Living Center provided her. You were a gift in her life and Eleanor really enjoyed her time a Will Rogers and at Uihlein Mercy Center.

She is survived by one sister-in-law Lenore Leavitt of Gabriels, three nephews Robert Leavitt of Easley, SC, Arthur Leavitt and his wife Eileen of Gabriels, NY, and David Leavitt and his wife Marybeth of Glenmont, NY, four great nephews Scott, Tim, Jeff, and Jon, five great nieces, Susan, Jennifer, Alissa, Erin and Christine, 2 great-great nephews and 2 great-great nieces. She was predeceased by on brother William Leavitt.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 3:00 PM on Thursday with Rev. Wilbert Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Gabriels.
