Wendell Dean "the Dream" Naegele, age 50, of 752 State Route 30, Tupper Lake, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington, VT.

Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 22, 1962, he was the son of Wendell and Shirley (Doty) Naegele. He was a graduate of Saranac Lake Central School. Dean married Heather Lewis on September 20, 1980 in Tupper Lake, New York.

Dean had been employed by the telephone company for 23 years until his retirement. Following his retirement he owned and operated Dean's Tree Service and later became a caretaker / guide at Litchfield Park in Tupper Lake.

Dean shared his love of hunting, fishing and anything outdoors with anyone willing to join in on the adventure, especially his nephews, nieces and his numerous cousins. He had a special place in his heart for the Mountaineer Rugby Club, serving as president numerous times and team captain when they won the Saranac Lake CanAm Tournament. He especially loved spending time at Camp Sunset and welcomed the company of anyone who might wander by.

Dean was a member of the Saranac Lake Elk's Lodge BPOE 1508, Loyal Order of the Moose and Sons of the American Legion in Saranac Lake. He had also served as a town Councilman for the Town of Harrietstown for several years.

He is survived by his wife Heather Naegele of Tupper Lake, one daughter Rachel Naegele, his father Wendell Dean Naegele of Saranac Lake, one brother Thomas Robert and his wife Michele Jordan of Windsor, Colorado, one sister JoAnn Latourelle and her husband Alan of Saranac Lake, his mother-in-law, Marie Lewis of Tupper Lake, several aunts, uncles and his large extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Naegele and his father-in-law Robert Lewis.

Calling hours will take place at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 from 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 7:30 PM with Rev. William Cooper officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Tupper Lake
